Old Osney Power Station
Located in Oxford’s West End, Osney Power Station sits near the railway station and the renowned Saïd Business School—a prestigious institution celebrated for its academic excellence. As part of its future vision, the school, currently located in a distinguished contemporary building, plans to expand through the conversion of this historic site.
Built in 1892, Osney Power Station is recognised as a local heritage asset. Most recently, it served as a research laboratory for the University’s Department of Engineering Science until its closure in 2010.
The building’s unique and distinctive character comes from its ornate brick façades on the north, east, and west sides, complemented by the corrugated metal-clad turbine halls set back within the structure.
Stone Edge Conservation, a certified installer of the ICCP (cathodic protection system), was entrusted with installing the protective system in collaboration with designers C-Probe.
Through close coordination with the conservation team, our expertise as heritage contractors was acknowledged, leading to our involvement in further remedial work on the retained façades, meticulously handled by our skilled heritage bricklayers.
