Lindo Wing
St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, was founded in 1845.
In anticipation of the birth of the first son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Stone Edge Conservation were called upon to restore the famous entrance to the Lindo Wing where traditionally the royal newborn babies were first presented to the nation.
With only three weeks to complete the works, our highly skilled craftsmen worked round the clock to ensure the entrance was completed on time.
Many other members of the Royal Family were first presented to the public on these famous steps. These include Prince William, Duke of Cambridge (born 1982) – second in line of succession, Prince Harry of Wales (born 1984) – fourth in line of succession, Prince George of Cambridge (born 2013) – son of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
The restoration of the entrance way may not be the largest project Stone Edge Conservation has been involved in, but these are the type of projects that are very special to us.
